Is There a Muse Video API? Status & Alternatives (Updated July 2026)
Meta has not released an API for Muse Video. Here is the current status, what Meta has said, and the best working video-generation API alternatives for developers.
Last updated: 2026-07-08
The short answer
No — there is no Muse Video API. As of July 2026, Muse Video is an early preview from Meta Superintelligence Labs. Meta says it is "coming soon to creators and in Meta AI" — there is no public product yet, no developer documentation, no pricing, and no API endpoint.
What Meta has said
Muse Video was previewed on July 7, 2026, announced together with Muse Image and built on the same pretraining base. From Meta's announcement and launch coverage:
- It generates video with native audio — sound effects, ambience, and music are produced together with the picture.
- It ranks #3 on the Arena text-to-video leaderboard at announcement time.
- Meta openly flags remaining gaps in audio-video synchronization and physically accurate fast motion.
- Availability is a phased creator rollout inside Meta AI — not a general release, and nothing has been said about developer access.
- Meta has not published resolution, clip length, or pricing details.
The precedent is not encouraging for API hopes: Muse Image (launched the same day as a consumer feature) has no API either, and Muse Spark's API has been "coming soon" since April. We update this page as the status changes.
What developers can use instead
If you need programmatic video generation today, these are the practical options:
| Option | API access | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MuseVideo (this site) | Web app + credits | Generate video with sound right now — try the generator, no waitlist |
| Veo 3 (Google) | Yes — Gemini API & resellers | Native audio, strong quality; widely resold at lower prices |
| Sora 2 (OpenAI) | Yes — OpenAI API | Strong physics and realism; app + API |
| Seedance (ByteDance) | Yes — via resellers | Fast and inexpensive, good motion |

Why Meta may never ship a public API
Meta's pattern with generative models is consumer engagement first: features live inside Meta AI, Instagram, and WhatsApp, where they keep users inside Meta's apps. An open API would let that value leak outside the walled garden — which is why Muse Image requires a Meta account and why Muse Video is rolling out to hand-picked creators rather than developers.
If Meta does open access, expect the LLM (Muse Spark) first, then image, then video — video APIs are the most expensive to serve and historically ship last.
FAQ
Can I access Muse Video through unofficial APIs or scrapers? We don't recommend it. Muse Video isn't even generally available inside Meta's own apps yet, so anything sold today as a "Muse Video API" is simply a different model behind a borrowed name.
Will this page be updated? Yes — bookmark it. We track Meta's developer announcements and update the status here.
I just need videos generated programmatically. What's the fastest path? Use a provider with a real API today (see the table above), or generate videos on MuseVideo — free credits on signup, no waitlist.
